Tony McCoy, founder and CEO of SportsFactory Foundation, started the 40& Over League in 2006.
In an interview with Bryan Crawford, of slamonline.com, in 2010, Tony was asked to reflect on the strength of the 40& Over League.
Tony’s sentiment “Every year, somebody turns 40, that keeps the league energized and keeps the competition at a high level,” represents the spirit of this competitive league where former NBA players, college standouts, and great street-ball players fiercely fight for the bragging rights of being a champion of one of the best summer leagues in the city.
For those lucky enough to be in Chicago over the summer visiting this league is a true treat. The league runs on the weekends from June to August at the Chicago Lab gymnasium. In addition to seeing the great talent on the court, one may be lucky to see some of the well-known celebrities in the stands, including the generous sponsor of the league Mr. Jordan himself.
Summer of 2020 has challenged us all. As we focused on ensuring the health and well-being of our communities we have been forced to put our work and the league on pause due to COVID19.
We look forward to resuming the 40& Basketball League in summer of 2021.
